About

Black and red Tetris-style blocks falling into place, inspired by my former Quicktech storefront design.

Abbotsford, BC, Canada

I've spent more than twenty years in IT, working across technical support, web development, service delivery, and business operations. I built and sold a managed service provider, so I've been responsible for both solving technical problems and running the business around them.

I enjoy figuring things out, whether that means troubleshooting an issue, building a website, helping a team, or improving a process that takes more effort than it should.

At iTBlueprint, I work on sales systems and automation. Outside work, I'm studying for an M.S. in Information Technology at WGU and finding new ways to overengineer everyday life.

What matters to me

I want people to be able to trust me, at work and outside it. For me, that comes from following through, being honest about what I know, and treating people with respect. A job title doesn't do that for you.

I care about people knowing where things stand. If there's a problem, I'd rather talk about it early than leave someone guessing. Admitting a mistake can be uncomfortable, but it gives us a chance to fix it and learn something.

I also care about people having enough time and support to do a good job. When a change affects their work, I want to hear what they think. They may see something I've missed, and they should feel comfortable saying so.

How I work

I like figuring out why something isn't working. That might mean tracing a technical problem, asking someone to walk me through their day, or finding out why the same information gets typed into three different systems.

I'm happy getting into the technical work myself. I also want to know who's going to use it, who'll support it, and whether it's worth the time and money.

If I'm asking people to follow a rule, it applies to me too. When I make a decision, I want people to understand why and feel comfortable questioning it. And if I get it wrong, I need to own that and help fix it.

I like working with people who have ideas and want to try things. Give them somewhere safe to experiment, some clear boundaries, and room to surprise you.

AI is part of my toolkit for that. We work in small pieces, and I make sure I understand what we're doing before it goes anywhere near a live system.

I'm open to IT management, technical support, web development, and consulting work. I enjoy staying close enough to the work to help solve the problems.

Right now

Lately I've been trying CachyOS as my everyday desktop, keeping a Windows VM handy for Excel, and using AI to help with home automation projects. Some of those projects are more necessary than others.
